Day 1 - Arrive!

When you arrive at Cairo International Airport, one of our Egyptoria Guides will be ready and waiting to escort you to your hotel. Day 2 – Giza Pyramids & Step Pyramids of Sakkara

Once you are fueled up for the morning you will meet with your Egyptologist.

From the hotel you will first travel to the monumental Pyramids of Giza, one of the original seven Wonders of the World. The enormity and beauty of the pyramids will wow you. Take pictures, explore the pyramid complex, and learn about their history up close and personal. Your personal Egyptoria Egyptologist will be there to help.

Want to spend more time appreciating the pyramids? Don’t worry, we aren’t done with the Pyramids at Giza yet. Your time at the pyramids continues as you eat lunch (included in your program package) at a famous restaurant located nearby.

From the Pyramids of Giza, you will travel to the Step Pyramids of Sakkara another historic and unique set of pyramids that only Egypt can offer. Your live history lesson continues as you learn about the building of the step pyramids and their historic significance. What you imagine while you’re there is completely up to you.

The rest of the afternoon and evening are yours to explore the area. Visit the garden district or one of the hotels’ fabulous restaurants. Your Egyptoria is your personal concierge to ensure you have a night to remember.

Day 3 – Fly to and Explore Aswan

You will hop on a quick 90-minute flight to Aswan where an Egyptologist will meet you and take you on your tour of the city.

The first stop is Philae Temple, an ancient complex central to the ancient religious world and a favorite topic and location for ancient writers. For the second stop, we will step away from temples and visit an ancient obelisk. The one we will visit is the unfinished Obelisk, which is also the largest ancient obelisk that was constructed.

After that you will check into your hotel from the list below based on availability.

Day 4 - A Day on the Nile River

The Aswan Dam is the world’s largest embankment dam built across the Nile in Aswan, between 1960 and 1970. Its completion ushered in a period of industrialization in Egypt because the dam was able to control flooding, provide irrigation, and generate hydro-electric power.

Next you will take a tour of the Aswan area with your Egyptoria guide on a felucca, the traditional Egyptian sailboat that is possibly Greek in origin and dates back to Hellenistic times. Once the primary mode of transportation on the Nile River it is still used today. You cannot get a more peaceful and authentic Egyptian experience than taking a tour on a felucca!

Day 5 - Temple Visits

Our first stop of the day is to one of the most well-preserved locations from the ancient world, the Temple of Edfu, built to honor Horus, the falcon god. One of the unique parts of this temple is how important the inscriptions are. Not only are they beautiful, but they provide a very clear view into religion, temples, and life in ancient Egypt.

Next we visit the Karnak Temple, which is the second most visited historic place in Egypt after the pyramids. Called the most revered place in Ancient Egypt is located on the eastern bank of the Nile River, opposite Luxor. In ancient Egypt, the construction of the temples always began at the sanctuary, which means that Karnak began in the center and finished building at the entrances to the enclosure.

Finally, our last stop will be visiting the elaborate Luxor Temple at night to be able to appreciate its full effect. Luxor Temple is unique as it was not built to worship a specific deity but is representative of all kings.

Day 6 - Valley of the Kings & Red Sea Hurghada

A full day of sightseeing today! You will be visiting some the most amazing places in Egypt.

We will begin by visiting the Valley of the Kings, home to the tombs of 63 pharaohs and nobles. Some of the tombs are open to the public so you can walk among temples to living Gods. Your Egyptoria guide will lead you to locations on the West Bank of the Nile River where, for over 500 years, pharaohs and nobles were laid to rest.

When we arrive at the Hatshepsut Temple you first go through the cliffs at Deir el Bahari, which seem to dwarf this stunning temple. Its size will amaze you. Located near the Valley of the Kings, this temple was used as a mortuary temple built to honor Pharaoh Hatshepsut.

Our last stop of the day is the Colossi of Memnon. These massive statues set on a stunning backdrop of Egyptian terrain. The columnal statues were stone portraits of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. While time has taken its toll on the Colossi of Memnon, they remain an iconic tourist location and give a peek into the ancient world.

After our full day of breath-taking sights, you will be staying in Hurghada for the night and will have the choice of the following hotels (subject to availability).

Day 8 - Museum & Old Cairo

In the morning after breakfast, we will fly back to Cairo in the morning and go on a full day adventure around town. You will stay in a hotel overnight from the same options as your first night in Cairo. (subject to availability).

Now that we are back in Cairo, we will spend the last day visiting some local ancient attractions. The first stop on our agenda is the Egyptian Museum. With over 120,000 ancient artifacts for you to see this museum is an essential stop in Egypt. You will be amazed at how much you learned on your treks with Egyptoria. Seeing the museum after visiting gives you the time to put everywhere you went into perspective along the timeline of history.

For our next stop we will travel from ancient to medieval times when we visit the Citadel of Saladin (also known as the Cairo Citadel). This was an Islamic fortification and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ready to go shopping? We are making a stop by the Khan el-Khalili Market. This used to be the heart of trade with foreign merchants and shopkeepers. Now, you will find Egyptian merchants and local stores.

Day 9 - Time to Head Home!

After eight remarkable days exploring Cairo, Luxor, Hurghada, and much more, it’s time to head home. You will depart for the airport in an airconditioned vehicle as you say your last goodbye to your amazing week in Egypt.
